Inspired by the Silver Award winning wedding album [2010 Canon AiPP APPA's] by exceptional photographer Angela Cushway and design influenced by my favourite: ‘frankie’ magazine, this is the cover of Zoe & Paul’s ‘limited edition wedding editorial’. Developed with the Gen-Y bride and groom in mind, the wedding editorial is an unconventional and quirky off-the-shelf magazine issue. The limited edition issue of 100+ content rich pages printed on eco-Star paper [100% recycled, uncoated] with a mat cello cover, features topical articles from the special day, including anything the client would like to include.

The final product incorporates the story of a wedding [or other special event] into a timeless fusion of text, imagery and minimal artwork. Main album may be presented as an IRISbook or other album, with an additional print run of 1, 5, 10 or 100 magazines to share with the guests. Images remain the basis of the design with the client’s choice of relevant supplemental text.

This is an opportunity for bridal party, family and friends to be involved in the album. Invite submissions for your wedding editorial in the form of an article or short feature. Guests could provide their favourite wedding moment or memory of the bride & groom. Collate some funny moments and quotes from the wedding day and beyond. Love letters, anecdotes, etc. etc.

More than a pictorial journal, but a complete record of the occasion. Pictures and words can say even more.

It’s been a while since I posted and among other things I’ve been busy preparing for my first exhibition. As part of the 2010 Head On Photo Festival during May and June there are lots of photographic exhibitions in galleries and cafes around Sydney showcasing the work of established and emerging photographers. My little show opens at Global Gallery, Paddington next Wednesday 26th May from 6-8pm. The exhibition, 1 of 5 at Global Gallery’s Head On show, is simply [untitled] and is a very personal collection of 12 intimate images of my children. The images [above] span a four year period and represent, for me, the innocence of childhood, play and the nonsense that is family. This is an honest and uninhibited view into our family life. Adela from Global has been a gem helping me get organised [and very patient] along with Cam from Storm Imaging, who are printing the images on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag for exhibition and Erryn from Aviva Print who printed my invitations in no time at all. So it all seems to be coming together, finally, just need to convince my Darren to join me in traveling down for the opening.

Once upon a time, a prince and a princess met somewhere on the other side of the world, in the land of ice and frozen fairies, somewhere where neither of them, nor her nor him, was expecting it to happen. Yet, they stood facing each other on a summer day and smiling they shaked hands. From that moment, their worlds were shaken too.

So innocent they were about how difficult it would be to be apart, about how difficult it would be to be together – after all, he was from the land of red cliffs and purple jungles and her home was in the land of grapes and cornfields – but, now, they were in love, and one day they would have to say goodbye.

That day came, and the raspberry loving princess had to leave and go home. She had to leave him. Well, the night before she left, the prince gave her a glowing mushroom, “This is my heart…” he whispered, “…and now that you have it I will come back for it”; he said and holds her tight. They had decided they were going to stay together, no matter what. ‘But where?’ was the question…

So, they travelled the world together, they cried, they smiled and laughed; they shared everything as they sacrificed everything. The only thing they wanted was to wake up facing each other, warm and holding hands, like on the day they met.

what a perfectly sweet way to start 2010. laura and norman’s wedding. i met laura in their hotel room a couple of hours before the intimate ceremony at st. mary’s by the sea. when i arrived, i was completely out of breath after walking up some stairs on what felt like the hottest day on record. laura asked me if i walked over – rydges resort is just across the road from my place – to which i shamefully replied “ah, from the carpark…” pitiful – i’m so unfit. norman was sitting down by the pool trying to relax, apparently a little nervous of what lay ahead of him. laura and norman are simply adorable and it was a nice way to spend the afternoon – despite the heat, the sweat, the mosquitoes feasting on us and the sun burning my retina – there is nothing i would rather do than clown around with a couple of newly weds, completely in love and embracing life on a stinking hot Port Douglas day.

the vows were unique and told the story of how they met in a fairytale narrative, i don’t have it now but will post it with the bride and groom’s permission, soon… and here it is – a fairytale.
